What Happens at Each Step

ProfitIQ’s process is designed to be simple, structured, and focused on the decision you need to make before committing significant estimating time.

Submit a Project Brief

The process starts with basic project information. This helps ProfitIQ understand the project, the bid deadline, the contractor’s role, and the decision you are trying to make.

You provide:

  • Project name

  • Project location

  • Bid date and time

  • Contractor type or trade focus

  • Link to bid documents

  • Known addenda, if available

  • Requested turnaround

  • Key concerns or decision questions

Purpose of this step:
To confirm whether the project is a good fit for a Bid Decision Brief and to make sure the review is focused on the right scope, trade, and decision.

ProfitIQ Reviews the Documents

ProfitIQ reviews the submitted documents for issues that may affect the bid decision. The review is focused on identifying decision-critical issues before significant estimating time is committed.

The review may include:

  • Drawings

  • Specifications

  • Addenda

  • Bid forms

  • Alternates

  • Allowances

  • Unit prices

  • Bonding requirements

  • Owner requirements

  • Long-lead items

  • Owner-furnished items

  • Scope gaps or conflicts

  • Unusual requirements or conditions

Purpose of this step:
To identify issues that may affect scope, cost, schedule, bonding, risk, or estimating effort.

Receive a Bid Decision Brief

After the document review, ProfitIQ provides a concise Bid Decision Brief. The brief is designed to summarize key issues in a practical format so the contractor can quickly understand what was found and why it matters.

The brief may include:

  • Project summary

  • Key findings

  • Risk observations

  • Decision drivers

  • Document references

  • Questions or clarifications to consider

  • Recommended next step

Possible recommendation categories:

  • Proceed

  • Proceed with Caution

  • Needs Clarification

  • Decline / Not Recommended

Purpose of this step:
To turn a large set of bid documents into a focused decision-support summary.

Decide Before Estimating Begins

The final step is using the Bid Decision Brief to make a more informed pursuit decision. ProfitIQ does not make the final decision for the contractor. The purpose is to help the contractor proceed with better information.

You can use the brief to:

  • Proceed with the opportunity

  • Proceed with caution

  • Ask better pre-bid questions

  • Request clarification

  • Adjust estimating priorities

  • Identify issues for internal discussion

  • Decline an opportunity before committing significant time

Purpose of this step:
To help contractors move the decision earlier, before the estimating team spends hours reviewing documents, pricing work, and preparing a bid for a project that may require clarification, caution, or a different pursuit strategy.
